Extending their division lead to 11.5 games over the under-achieving White Sox, the Twins pummeled the hapless Sox last night, 10-2. Johann Santana, the leading candidate for the AL Cy Young, pitched 7 shutout innings, giving up just 2 hits, to win his 11th straight decision and 10th straight start.Only Curt Schilling (19-6) has a better record than Santana's 18-6, but Santana's ERA is much better (2.76 v. 3.35) and his strikeout total dwarfs Schilling's (240 v. 177). No contest.
And here's my quote of the day from Chicago center fielder Aaron Rowand after his team lost 10-2: "We didn't get the breaks."
